A GREEK SCHOOL WITH A EUROPEAN CHARACTER AND A GLOBAL ORIENTATION

Mandoulides Basketball Academy
MBA 2011 - 2012

Mandoulides Schools host the MBA Basketball Academy at their modern facilities, the two indoor basketball courts at the Elementary and the Junior/Senior High Schools. The purpose of MBA is to discover new talent in the sport while moulding the young participants' personality and developing physical health and mental prowess. The academy has been the antechamber for Mandoulides teams - school, children, teenagers and adult men - who have won six national championships without a defeat, and three worldwide school tournaments.

Dozens of our student-athletes, among them Haris Markopoulos, Nikos Zisis, Sofoklis Schortsanitis, Savvas Iliadis, Kostas Sloukas, Dimitris Katsivelis and Giorgos Georgakis. all participated in Greek national professional teams of all levels, achieving several European distinctions. All of the above proves the high standard of our programs, from the youngest to Mandoulides men’s team, which competes in the third division of the national league.

Mandoulides Basketball Academy was founded in 1994 and since then Nikos Keramefs has been the head of the experienced coaches of the Academy. Coach Keramefs was a federal coach for ten years and coached national children, teenagers, and adult teams, winning three European titles.

The academy is aimed at boys and girls aged 5 - 15, it begins in September and its closing ceremony takes place on the first weekend of June. Apart from the two regular  training sessions on Saturdays and Sundays, in 2006 - 2007 the academy added another optional training session. 7th grade boys’ and girls’ teams take part in the MINI tournaments of Thessaloniki. In recent years, our Academy’s MINI teams have participated in tournaments around Greece and in two European ones -in Monza, Italy and in Stockholm, Sweden- where they won second place.
