ENGLISH
The After School Bilingual program is addressed to students
- Whose one or both parents are native English speakers
- Who have lived in an English speaking country
- Who have attended an English speaking school
- Who have had extensive exposure to the English language.
The After School Link program is for all students from K to 6th grade. The main emphasis of this program is to encourage children to develop a love for English as well to learn to express themselves verbally. The classes, which are limited in students, are taught by highly qualified and experienced native English teachers. Apart from a course book, games, songs, group projects and theatrical presentations are all incorporated in the lesson plans. Thus the children have the opportunity to express themselves using the language they have learned as well as build their confidence and self esteem in a fun and creative learning environment.
GERMAN
The German after school program is divided into two sections:
A) The BILINGUALER UNTERRICHT program aimed exclusively at bilingual students:
- One or both parents of whom the mother tongue is German and who use it extensively at home
- Who were born or grew up in a German-speaking country
- Who have attended a German Kindergarten or school
- Who have very good knowledge of German or speak it almost like their mother tongue.
The
program operates from Kindergarten
to 6th grade. The lessons aim at teaching the German alphabet, as well as learning
and enriching the pupils’ vocabulary so that they will acquire fluency in the use of the language. The students are then
taught with the aid of textbooks to gain knowledge that will lead to the first
language certificate (Fit in Deutsch 1). Classes are taught in German by
experienced teachers who are native speakers.
B) The SPRACHBAD-LINK program is aimed
at children who want to come into first contact with the German language and
culture from an early age. This is achieved through games, songs, crafts
and various activities such as Laternenfest, Fasching, Weihnachten, Ostern,
Mutter-und Vatertag so that they will learn about German culture. The aim of
this course is the acquisition of basic vocabulary related to the children’s
age (my family, my animals, colors, numbers, days, etc.). SPRACHBAD-LINK
lasts two years and then pupils enter the BILINGUALER UNTERRICHT program. Classes
are conducted by experienced teachers who are native speakers.
FRENCH
The French after school program is divided into two sections:
A) Bilingue, aimed exclusively at bilingual pupils:
- One or both parents of whom are native speakers of French and use it extensively at home
- Who were born or grew up in a French-speaking country
- Who have attended a francophone kindergarten or school
- Who have very good knowledge of French or speak it almost like their mother tongue.
The program operates from Kindergarten to 6th grade. The lessons aim at teaching the French alphabet, as well as learning and enriching the pupils’ vocabulary so that they will acquire fluency in the use of the language. Pupils are then taught, with the aid of textbooks, to gain knowledge that will lead to the first language certificate (D.E.L.F. A1). This is achieved through games, songs, crafts and various activities, such as Epiphanie - Fête des rois, Chandeleur, Mardi Gras, La Fête des mères, La Fête des pères, so that they will experience the French culture. The aim of this course is the acquisition of basic vocabulary related to the children’s age (my family, my animals, colors, numbers, days, etc.). Bilingue-Link lasts two years and then pupils enter the Bilingue program. Classes are conducted by experienced teachers who are native speakers.

FOR KINDERGARTEN, 1st AND 2nd GRADE STUDENTS
The workshop aims at developing the children’s creative thought as well as their expression of feelings and ideas.

THEATRICAL GAME

FOR STUDENTS OF 3rd, 4th, 5th AND 6th GRADES
Through the theatrical game process children have the opportunity to develop their social skills, they learn how to cooperate and they gain self-confidence.
With theatrical, kinetic, and verbal improvisations children’s creativity is cultivated, their imagination is set free and their senses are developed. Through playing and having fun they experience desired situations and they comprehend human relationships. The class becomes a group. The teacher - animator taps the children’s ideas and, at the end of the school year, leads them to the creation of a theatrical play.
COMPUTERS

FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
The extra-curricular program in computers strives to enrich the students’ knowledge of the on-going issues surrounding the field of computer science and the internet through applied use. As a platform for the purpose of the club, the students are availed to the use of the office automation (MS-Office) and shown innovative means of utilizing the internet for their personal, practical and scholastic needs. An objective of the club is to lead the students to construct a volume of electronic information complete with articles, pictures and tables on issues the will heighten their comprehension of classroom studies and encourage co-operative engagement with teachers. The computer department observes the work of the students and divides them into groups analogous to their ability to use the computer. The instructors take on the role of serving the children and working to guide them to a particular goal in operating the computer. Furthermore, in evaluating the progress of the students, the instructors give regular written reports to the parents explaining the material covered in the club and follow up by providing a grade to the students showing the measure of his or her progression. Practical exercise, co-operation and teamwork are the ultimate pursuits of this club.

ROBOTICS

FOR 5th, 6th AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADES
Robotics is the science which integrates theory with application in adapting technology to the needs of everyday life. Robotics asks the students to tax their interest and imagination. The student is challenged to brainstorm ideas and create applied use of the robotic technology through project planning. Lastly, the students will exhibit their robots and the use or uses of the robots as the students have programmed their little automatons to do. The children learn through robotics that it is not always "by the book" but by how a person thinks "out of the box" when using one's imagination to understand and work with science and technology.

FOR DAY CARE CENTER - KINDERGARTEN - ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
In ballet, the endeavor Mandoulides Schools has undertaken for past several years is to nurture the student's sense of appreciation and understanding for the art of classical dance. For that reason, we have created a unique section which allows for involvement the of all interested students from day care through and kindergarten through the sixth grade of elementary school. In the day care school and kindergarTen, the children learn basic dance steps while developing an appreciation for the music, improving on graceful motion and enhancing their imagination. Simultaneously, the child exercises mind and body and discovers new and meaningful avenues of expression. In the elementary school the children begin to command fluid motion and learn to follow the rhythm of the music, in turn the children improve the condition of their bodies. By studying ballet, the children will learn the meaning of dance and will improve the condition of both mind and body and pick up a variety dance steps, not merely learn memorized movement. Gradually, the children will become more expressive in both voice and body.

FOR KINDERGARTEN - ELEMENTARY - JUNIOR - SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
After the success of hip-hop as part of the English and Adventure Camp in the summer program, Mandoulides Schools introduced the Modern Dance Club. The lessons are conducted in English and are open to kindergarteners as well as elementary students. The club hase proven to be immensely popular among young students in the past few years. The lessons use songs and music from well-known music of the day. Near the close of the school year the club members put on a rehearsed performance for the enjoyment of parents, family and classmates. Using the quick rhythms and delightful music popular among young children today, the children strengthen and conture their bodies. Incorporating dance moves with their favorite music is a big reason why this club regularly receives a large number of followers.
TAE KWON DO

FOR KNDERGARTEN - ELEMENTARY - JUNIOR - SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Tae Kwon Do (the martial art of self-defense) has been a success at the school for the last fifteen years. Tae Kwon Do is the scientific use of the body and intense concentration of the inner being required to defend oneself against a would-be aggressor.
With Tae, the student learns the right of self-defense and learns not to hide in fear. Along with physical development, great emphasis is placed on the moral cultivation of the user, leading to a healthy body and a sharp mind. The objective of the lesson is to instill in the student a sense of appreciation for this ancient art, develop individual virtue often devoid in those unfamiliar with Tae and inculcate self-confidence. Apart from the art of self-defense, the student learns obedience, discipline, respect and consideration for his fellow man. Moreover, recognition and familiarization with the spirit and intent of fair play embody the essence of Tae Kwon Do and offers its student the ideals necessary for living in a better world.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL ACADEMY

Mandoulides Schools have always prescribed to the ancient maxim
of "A healthy mind in a healthy body" and have emphasized the
cultivation of team spirit and the value of "fair play". You are
therefore invited to the kick off of this year’s Girls’ Volleyball
Academy (MVGA).
The aim of the Academy is to learn the techniques of offensive and
defensive strikes (receiving, passing, smashing and service) and the
rules of the game.
The academy welcomes pupils from the Primary
and High Schools, as well as pupils from other schools in the
city. Training sessions are carried out by an experienced coach three
times a week -on Mondays and Wednesdays after the end of the school day
and on Sundays- at the modern sports facilities at Mandoulides
Kindergarten - Elementary Schools (Thessaloniki - Thermi main road).

Mandoulides Schools hosts modern facilities at two enclosed gymnasiums situated at the elementary and high school campuses and are used to facilitate The MBA Basketball Academy(MANDOULIDES BASKETBALL ACADEMY). The purpose of the academy is to reveal athletic talent hidden in male and female athletes of the sport. Along with that, the academy works to mold a healthy body and mind. Over the years the academy has played a significant role in the success of the school's athletic department from elementary teams to the adult men's team. Τwo world titles and six national titles atest to the commitment to and quality of basketball played at EM. Furthermore, several student-athletes who took part in MBA have gone on to play professional basketball in Greece, to name a few: Haris Makropoulos, Nikos Zisis, Sophocles Scortsianitis, Savvas Iliadis and Kostas Skloukas. Among those names are players who earned European awards in the sport. Their success as professional players is partial verification of the high standard of quality MBA is so very proud of. Since the founding of MBA in 1994, Nikos Keramefs has been in charge of coordinating all programs. Mr. Keramefs coached the Greek National Youth Teams, leaving that post in 2008. Boys and girls aged six through fourteen are eligible to participate in the academy. The acedemy opens in early September and concludes with a closing ceremony on the first weekend of June. Apart from the bi-weekly schedule for Mandoulides students, there is also an optional program for boys and girls from fourth elementary and up, which began in 2007. Ninth grade boys and girls teams compete in the Junior Championships of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki. Over the past several years the junior teams of the academy took part in a number of tournements throughout Greece and in two European tournaments - Monza, Italy and Stockholm, Sweden, in both competitions the students brought home the silver medal.

FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Tennis is a game for all ages, for both children and adults. One can start from the age of 4 (mini tennis). It exercises the whole body, rejuvenates the mind, gives pleasure, and develops discipline, perseverance and patience. While it is an individual sport, tennis nurtures the skills necessary for building character.
The aim of the Academy is to teach
the student the basic techniques of hitting the ball as
well as the rules and regulations through actual games. As far as the more
experienced players are concerned, we aim to teach them
specific strokes and tactics.
The Academy operates on
Thursdays and Saturdays from September to June. Classes are held in groups for
beginners and advanced on the tennis courts at Mandoulides Junior - Senior
High School.

FOR CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS AGED 4 - 17
Organization
In the academy, we believe in safety, learning and fun. These are the three basic criteria, on which we have been working for ten years now with great success. A precondition for this is the certain and inexhaustible appetite for work and above all our love of children. With the continuous training of teachers and instructors in Greece and abroad in recent years, we have managed to ensure the best and most experienced group of instructors. With 20 certified coaches from the Greek, Austrian or Bulgarian National Unions of Instructors, we feel confident in our work and the results it produces. All instructors (most of whom are physical education teachers or former athletes) have had extensive experience with children, working in camps, sports clubs or in the field of outdoor activities.
The head of Ski
Academy is Mr. Giorgos Stavrinos, Mandoulides Schools Physical Education
teacher and director of Happy Mountain (outdoor sports activities company), ski
instructor, white-water rafting guide, with many years of experience in outdoor
activities and camps.
Academy Program
The trips begin with the first snowfall in December or January and last until
late March or early April. The academy usually goes to 3 - 5 Pigadia. Transportation
of children is by the academy’s bus every Saturday and Sunday (you choose the
most convenient day for you).
The children are
divided into groups of 3 - 6, depending on their level and ages. One or two (if
necessary) instructors per group are in charge of the daily program to
ensure maximum safety and faster training. For children aged 4 - 5 there is a program called Snowflake. Children
learn to ski over 4 three-hour lessons, in groups of 3 - 5 children, with 2 instructors
in each group. After 4 lessons, they can slide and turn by themselves.
Cost
You can choose from four programs:
- Snowflake - 4 lessons (kindergarten & pre-kindergarten): 300€
- 6 lessons (1st to 11th grade): 550€
- 8 lessons (1st to 11th grade): 680€
- 10 lessons (1st to 11th grade): 750€
The programs of 6, 8 & 10 lessons include:
Transport to the ski resorts, professional ski instructors for small groups of children (3 - 6 children per instructor), skiing lesson 4 to 5 hours daily, a constant school attendant from the moment the children enter the bus until the moment they descend to ensure better supervision of and contact with children, a lift pass for each resort, VAT 23%.
