ARTISTIC RHETORICAL SPEECH IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE (FORENSICS)

Pupils from our school take part in the distinguished National Competition of Artistic and Rhetoric Speech in the English language (FORENSICS), in which, over the last 15 years, they have been extremely successful, even though they have competed alongside pupils from American and English collges from Athens and Thessaloniki, like ACS Anatolia, The Arsakeio School, Thessaloniki, Byron Schools, Campion, Ekpedeftiki Anagennisi, HAEF - Kollegio Athinon - Psichikou, Ekpedeftiria Gitona, Ekpedeftiria Costea - Geitona, Ekpedeftiria Mandoulides, ISA, Scholi Moraitis, Ekpedeftiria Nea Genia Ziridis, Pierce, Pinewood, St Catherine’s, St Lawrence.
Our School’s FORENSICS group has been awarded on many occasions with first place and distinctions at national level. It is worth mentioning that the school won 1st place and the gold cup at national level five times (1996, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007) and 2nd and 3rd places in 2002 and 2005 respectively. In addition our pupils were among the best in various categories.
There is a program for the pupils’ preparation for their participation in the national tournament of FORENSICS. Pupils practise the arts of reasoning and exhortative speech necessary for original oratory, prepare for impromptu speaking, dramatic and comic oral interpretation of literature and dramatic and comic duets.
PANHELLENIC FORENSICS ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENT 2011
Mandoulides Schools hosted this year’s Panhellenic Forensics Tournament at their High School - Lykeio campus. 400 students from Greek and English schools participated in the tournament which took place from March 31 to April 3, 2011. The participating schools were: ACS, Anatolia College, Campion School, Ekpedeftiki Anagennisi, Geitonas School, HAEF - Athens College, Costeas - Geitonas School, Mandoulides Schools, Moraitis School, Pierce College, Pinewood, St. Catherine’s British Embassy School, St. Lawrence College, American School of Kuwait.

THE 21st WORLD SCHOOL DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

The Greek team won the 4th place overall and the 1st place in the category for non-English speaking countries at the 21st World School Debating Championships which were held in Athens. The Greek team was made up of the following pupils: Georgios Douganiotis (3rd year Senior High School, Ekpedeftiria Mandoulides), Stefanos Gadolfos and Maria Nefeli Bernitsa (HAEF - American College of Athens) along with Philippos Lekkas and Georgios Trigatsis (St Catherine’s). In total 40 countries from all over the world took part. New Zealand won 1st place, England 2nd place, Singapore 3rd place and Greece 4th place.
